Your first animation
Start with one property. Once that clicks, the rest of the catalogue becomes much easier to understand.
Make something turn
- Select a spare object with a sensible origin. The origin is the pivot it will rotate around.
- Find Constant Speed in the Espresso template picker. It is available in all three editions.
- Right-click the object's Z Rotation field and choose the Espresso menu's Apply Current Template action.
- Play the timeline. The rotation is driven; you do not need to create a row of rotation keyframes.
- To revise an applied effect, switch to Live and check the displayed object/property before changing a parameter. If the panel shows an Update button, click it to apply your changes.
Two useful ways to apply
Use this for light Power, a shader input, a modifier value, or one transform channel. A numeric field that supports Blender drivers is the starting point.
Some recipes own multiple channels. Follow the panel's target summary and motion-apply action so those channels stay coordinated.
Should I use Setup or Live?
Setup prepares the next application. Live resolves an applied effect and lets you adjust the parameters that can be edited there. Selecting a different object, a different effect, or a different material can change what resolves. Do not keep pressing Apply to compensate for a missing Live target—check which datablock owns the driver.
Try one setting at a time
Change the speed, play a few frames, then change the amplitude or range. The graph helps you separate when a motion happens from how much it moves. For a one-shot such as a drawer close, return to its start frame before comparing versions.
